Hey there! The site looks great and I’ve enjoyed checking it out. Seems to load much faster than the other one! Whew!
Ok, so here’s my entry requirement: My favorite homesteading trick is to make my own laundry soap. I’ve been doing it for about a year and I love it! It’s saved me tons of money, and with 6 people in the house, I do a LOT of laundry!
Thanks for inviting me!
Many blessings on your new site!

Tiffany, The new site looks great! I love it! My favorite homesteading tip would have to be my homemade laundry soap and my love for hanging our clothes out to dry (saves a ton on the electric bill)!
Hi Tiffany,
My favorite thing to do is make our own bread. With 5 kids we seem to go throug so much bread. It works out to 35 cents a loaf for me and some times I take the dough and divided it up in my muffin tin and freeze for easy pull rolls for dinner another night. When there is stale bread left over french toast in the morning. I like your blog. Would love to get those videos.

My favorite thing to do is making my girls dresses. I buy the dollar a yard fabric. The baby uses under a yard and the older 2 use just over. It’s way cheaper than buying new dresses and we get to choose any fabric we want. It’s also more modest because I choose how long they are and what shirts they wear under them.
oooo, My favourite tip? Vinegar. It’s cheap, and you can use it to clean just about anything, even your hair!

One area that we save a lot of money on is clothing. During garage sale season, I try to stock up on clothes in sizes that my kids will need for the upcoming year. I also pick up clothes for my husband and I. I like church garage sales best because you can find a lot of clothes in a short amount of time without having to go to a bunch of individual garage sales. I also like saving and passing on our clothing to friends and relatives. I saved our baby clothes and plan to pass them on to a cousin. Many of our baby clothes ended up with spit up stains on them, but I found the best way to get them looking like new again: 1) Wash them in the washer early in the morning on a hot sunny day (sometimes I add a little oxy clean), but don’t dry them. 2) While they are still wet, lay them outside on a blanket or towel so that the stains are showing. 3) Leave them in the sun all day long. 4) At the end of the day bring them in and wash them again and dry them. You can repeat if there are still some lingering stains, but I’ve found that this usually gets rid of most spit up stains (and some others too!).
I would LOVE to be entered in your Homestead Blessings DVDs. I watched the preview on their web site and it looks like something our whole family would enjoy watching. We are all very interested in gardening and would love to learn more about canning. If I win, I’d save them and give them to my husband for Christmas, I just know he’d love them!!
Extra entry: I subscribed via email (I think). I didn’t get the confirmation email the form said to expect, so if I don’t get it, I’ll re-sign up.
We are short of storage in our house, so I store the extra sheets folded neatly between the mattress and box springs of the bed they go to

a great tip for saving money is to make up your grocery list and menu before you go shopping so you know exactly what you need to make for the whole week and you don’t end up going more than once and buying what you don’t need!

I just found your site and will definitely be coming back! My tip is not so much a homesteading tip because I live in a city, but it’s a busy mama tip for healthy cooking. It also helps those who deal with chronic fatigue or pain. I use certain ingredients all the time in my cooking but if I had to stop and prepare them for each meal… it would add half an hour of time and standing on the tile floor. So when I am feeling well, I will chop up a whole bag of onions and freeze them flat in zip bags, the same with red peppers, celery, green onions and other things like that. If you put them flat and a relatively thin layer, then you can break off a portion and put it into your cooking! It makes it so much easier and because it is frozen, not canned or dehydrated it works well in all recipes except those where the crisp texture of a fresh, crunchy veggie is required.

What a wonderful giveaway!! So far, I’ve added you to my blogroll and posted posted about this giveaway. I’m looking for you on Facebook, but am not sure if I can find you. But I DID post on FB about you having a giveaway. Hmmm…oh and my “homestead tip”: well, I actually have three!
I make my own bread, use cloth diapers, and make my own laundry detergent. And actually, yesterday, I got a recipe for homemade deoderant! I’m going to try that out! So, I guess in this one comment, I “entered” through 4 (?) different categories. Thank you!!!

I subscribed to you guys! Hope to win!

My little “tip” is for laundry. To make your life easier, get each child a laundry basket for their room (or the helper and their buddy can share a basket). Instead of sorting your clothes out into white, colors etc. Wash the whole basket on a regular cycle. Each child gets a day! …when you have more then 7 children (we have
then you have to start doing 2 a day, but it makes it easier:)
Thank you for the entry, I would love to see their dvd’s~

Wow, what a great idea!! I’ll have to think about how this could be incorporated for us.
With colors that bleed, obviously you’d have to take additional precautions… and do you whites stay white?
I cannot express how excited I am about this giveaway! I LOVE the Homestead Blessings CD’s!

Nice site! I’m a DSD. With 6 kids we were overwhelmed with unmatched socks. We went to Hanes socks that are color coded by size. Each person has their own color toes and for the sizes we have multiple people in different height or color socks, (DH has the black and grey red toes, teen son has the white red toes.) Now I put the socks in the right laundry pile matched or not. No more unmatched socks basket!
Before that, I had put snaps on the socks and people were supposed to snap them together before putting them in the hamper. Worked good in theory, but DH and I were the only ones who’d snap them after taking them off.
I added you to my blogroll.
